ABSTRACT

According to the ancient Chinese literature, the Japanese state existed in the rst century ad. As early as the fourth century, emperors ruled our country. In ad 604, the rst Japanese constitution with 17 articles was proclaimed, which were maxims inuenced by Buddhism. In the late seventh century, a legal system was established in imitation of that in Tang China. Some of the key historical periods include

1. e Nara period (ad 710-793) saw the widespread inuence of Buddhism under the reign of powerful emperors, although many Japanese remained believers of Shinto, a native polytheistic religion, the core of which is the worship of nature and ancestors without a creator or sacred text like other main religions.
