ABSTRACT

Application of project management (PM) often faces the problems of uncertainty, time and resources limits in real world. There are a good number of areas where these problems are typical and frequently posed. The industries operating in natural environment, experience serious problems that are consequence of the uncertainties, which have geologic, ecologic, biologic, human psychology nature. For example, mining industry suffers from geologic ambiguity and extremely complex problem of geophysical exploration. It worth to remark that coal inseam tomography costs up to $100 thousands per one kilometer of a longwall panel whereas its reliability does not exceed 70-75%. It is a typical situation when drilling of a well to the depth of 5 km may not provide sufficient oil extraction despite efforts and waste of several millions. Complex biological interrelations that complicated by uncertain factors and unforeseen events may convert positive expectations into ecologic catastrophe.
