ABSTRACT

The use of high-performance systems of mining development that includes caving of ore and overlying rock during extraction of mineral resources also distorts the equilibrium that exists in them, causing the development of displacements and deformations. Depending on the dimensions of the areas under development, shifting process can reach terrestrial surface. As we already know from our experience, changes in the states of stress and shifting of the rock mass and terrestrial surface occur at considerable distances that sometimes exceed the size of developed plots by several times. The main feature of the development of shifting process is the inevitable occurrence of collapse area (Figure 1) (Oshmyansky & Lapshin 1974) conditioned by the parameters of the ore bodies, the applied development technology and the properties of the host rocks.
