ABSTRACT

In recent decades, due to the need of extensive monitoring of existing road networks, there has been an increasing use of telematics equipment. These assets, as others who constitute the set of road infrastructure, have been targeted, in recent years, for rationalization of operating and maintenance costs. It arises, therefore, the desire to implement systems to predict and manage the performance of these devices. However, it is verified a deficit of such systems.

The development of a performance model involves, in a first phase, the definition of an evaluation system in order to determine the equipments condition.

This rating system will allow the use of the Markov stochastic process to assess the equipments evolution over time, as well as their future behavior, enhancing the development of strategies for maintenance of road networks with the aim of rationalizing the use of all infrastructures.
