ABSTRACT

The surface coating method has been often applied to concrete structures suffering from chloride induced deterioration as repair or preventive measure. One of the surface coating methods is treatment method of surface penetrants. Recently, this method has been attracting attention as a method which has the excellent workability and is low cost. When the prediction of chloride ion penetration into concrete structures treated surface penetrants is performed, the chloride ion diffusion coefficients of improved concrete and unimproved concrete as well as the penetrating depths from concrete surface are required. From the above backgrounds, in this study, the simple prediction method of chloride ion penetration into concrete with surface penetrants was examined. In this paper, the frame of prediction method for chloride ion penetration when applying surface penetrants for newly constructed structures and existing structures were shown respectively.
