ABSTRACT

In this study, experimental examinations are performed to clarify the effects of silicate based surface penetrants on concrete. From experiment results, it is found that the effectiveness of the surface penetrations in the concrete can be useful indicating factors to evaluate the penetration depth and improvement area, respectively. Additionally, the effectiveness of the surface penetrant on the chloride ion, carbonation of concrete is confirmed by using an acceleration test. Life cycle of concrete with surface penetrant was about double in comparison with normal concrete. And apparent chloride ion diffusion coefficient with silicate based penetrants was about https://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"> 50 % https://s3-euw1-ap-pe-df-pch-content-public-p.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/9780429227196/8b5c0a5d-ddea-4c88-8eea-7152f7afb008/content/eq6268.tif" xmlns:xlink="https://www.w3.org/1999/xlink"/> lower than without penetrant.
