ABSTRACT

In this study, the method by the Impact Elastic Wave method for evaluation of the quality of cover concrete is considered. The contact time between the surface of concrete and the small impulse hammer varies depending on the elastic modulus of the surface of concrete. From this behavior, the method by measurement of the contact time between the surface of concrete and the small impulse hammer for evaluation of a quality of cover concrete is proposed. In this experiment, the contact times were measured at multiple specimens which were on different water-cement ratio, moist curing period, and types of formwork. The measured contact times from multiple specimens were compared, then, the relation between the measured contact times and carbonation rate coefficients were investigated. From these results, the inspection procedure for the quality control for cover concrete at construction field is devised.
