ABSTRACT

A fully nondestructive surface water absorption test (SWAT) developed by the authors can evaluate the absorption resistance of covercrete. This paper explains the measurement system of SWAT and one of the indices of SWAT, the surface water absorption rate at 10 minutes, for evaluating absorption resistance. The effects of cement type, water to cement ratio, and curing conditions on the covercrete quality of specimens are analyzed by SWAT. Furthermore, the relationship between the carbonation rate and SWAT index is investigated in column specimens.
