ABSTRACT

In this study, punching shear test of RC slabs which contain corroded reinfordng bars were carried out as first tost series. The loading test cleared that the higher the reduction of weight loss of reinforcing bars becomes, the lower the punching shear capacity becomes. As second scries, punching shear test were conducted to determine the degradation mechanism of corroded RC slabs. Degradation of bond strength, reduction of reinforcing bars and lack of concrete cover had small influence on the load carrying capacity. FE analysis cleared that the initial stress and cracks which were induced by the expansion of corrosion products reduces punching shear capacities of RC slabs.
