ABSTRACT

Ground anchors have been used as countermeasures to reinforce slope stability since 1970. Consequently, degrading of function of ground anchors such as deterioration of bonding portion/overstressed force due to subsoil deformation has been highlighted so that the establishment of strategy for comprehensive maintenance is an urgent task. From such a viewpoint, this paper proposed the methodology to adopt Life Cycle Cost, LCC, which is an economic index to evaluate total cost of maintenance over its lifetime of ground anchors, as criteria of decision-making. In detail, the methodology associated with deterioration forecasting of ground anchors was modeled by means of the Weibull hazard model based on results of the lift-off test. Moreover, the three dimensional slope stability analyses considering of degrading of function of ground anchors were conducted to evaluate the failure probability and LCC. Finally, the results show the applicability and effectiveness of proposed method for ground anchor maintenance strategies.
