ABSTRACT
A In order to utilize the damage data of expressway embankment due to the 2011 off the Pacific coast of Tohoku Earthquake, the possibility of the practical use to the assessment of damage by the earthquake assumed from now on was examined. For the purpose, the result obtained by analysis of damage data was compared with a past seismic damage. It is found that the damage ratios obtained by two different earthquakes are comparable although not only the characteristic of earthquake ground motion but also the characteristic of embankment including the support ground differs each other. The characteristic of embankment damaged by the 2011 off the Pacific coast of Tohoku Earthquake may be applicable to carry out the assessment of damage caused by other earthquakes.
