ABSTRACT

Surface impregnation method using surface penetrants is one method of improving the durability of concrete structures. Surface penetrants are fixed to the surface layer of concrete to give water repellency and prevent deterioration factors such as chloride from penetrating inside concrete. Recently, this method is increasingly applied in construction as a way to reduce life cycle cost. In the study, the author reports on the results of efficiency evaluation tests for using surface penetrants. In addition, in order to use surface penetrants in existing concrete structures, we studies the effects of environmental factors such as iteration of dry and wet conditions and ultraviolet rays by conducting accelerated weatherability and exposure tests.
