ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study is to investigate the improving effect of anti-corrosion property of rebar in concrete by mixing fly ash. Electrochemical measurement results showed anti-corrosion property of the rebar in the fly ash concrete (FA concrete) subjected to the drying process during the curing become much lower than that in concrete without fly ash. However, the rebar in the FA concrete subjected to the wetting process during the curing has extremely high anti-corrosion property. Although the ingress of the chloride ions was suppressed by mixing the fly ash compared with the concrete without fly ash, the chloride ion concentration in the vicinity of rebar in the FA concrete did not change with the difference in the curing process. Furthermore, it is not able to explain the high ant-corrosion property of the FA concrete cured with wetting process from the viewpoint of air permeability and water saturation of concrete.
