ABSTRACT

This paper discusses prediction of the maximum crack width of un-reinforced concrete coastal facilities. Field survey on un-reinforced concrete coastal facilities has been conducted to investigate crack locations, widths, lengths, and numbers. The data obtained have been analyzed based on extreme value statistics analyses and the Poisson statistics analysis, and the cracking properties were quantitatively evaluated. As the results, the accuracy of crack width predictions in each span of un-reinforced concrete coastal facilities was made clear and it was proposed that the maximum crack width in the facilities is predictable with high accuracy by evaluating only 20% of all the spans.
