ABSTRACT

As for many harbor structures in Japan, 50 years or more after construction will pass in near future. So repair and strengthening for deteriorated structures have been necessary. Then, repair and strengthening work for the part from underwater to tidal zone is generally executed by diver. However, a problem having difficulty in securing and confirming of quality exists. Therefore the authors developed two types of DRY-UP method to secure dry working space on existing structure. One approach applies ground freezing technology to achieve a dry working space. The other approach achieves a dry working space seal by means of rubber tube the target structure. This paper presents an overview of the methods developed and the results of verification experiments that confirm adequate water stop effect.
