ABSTRACT

Vector-value Probabilistic Seismic Hazard Analysis (VPSHA) using the seismic wave inventory is proposed. The outcome of the conventional PSHA does not fully represent the characteristics of ground motions because it can express only a scalar intensity measure (IM) such as PGA and PGV. VPSHA has proposed which explains a ground motion with vector IMs. However there are a few drawbacks to be improved. First, in order to perform VPSHA, it is necessary to grasp the covariance structure among IMs for evaluating a joint probability density function. Second, when the hazard result is utilized for risk assessment such as buildings and infrastructure systems, vector-valued fragility functions are required. In order to avoid these drawbacks, it is difficult to generate ground motions which satisfies vector IMs in risk assessment based on dynamic response analyses. Proposed VPSHA method improves these drawbacks by using Seismic Wave Inventory (SWI) instead of ground motion attenuation relationships.
