ABSTRACT

Bond between steel and concrete deeply influences the structural behaviour of reinforced concrete structures. In the present work, local bond-slip behaviour is analysed in presence of corrosion of reinforcing bar embedded in concrete. The results of the tests on concrete cubes with side of 120mm reinforced with ribbed steel bars with diameter of 12mm with and without confinement in presence of an increasing level of corrosion up to 10% of estimated mass loss are presented. A Rilem pull-out test type is employed; therefore the analysis arises the local relationship between steel and concrete because of the short embedment length. Corrosion is applied by means of electrochemical procedure. Results showed the influence of corrosion level and the presence of confinement in the terms of bond efficiency.
