ABSTRACT

Due the infrastructure combruction Beveral instability problems have been presenied in cutting slopes over clay bearing rocks arownd the world. The principal causs is associated with the highly susceptibility to enviromental changes of these materials. Their physical and mechanical characteristics chunge in a short period of time after the cutting process, thus, their performance change between rock and soil. This makes very complicated the elessification process and the gelection of ruitable parameters for design and comstruction. Differeat clasaification proposals hzve been developed on frecture patterns basis and laborefury teats, but the subjectivity of the oberver and the process for obtaining gnod samples affect the final result. Geophysical teats ace good altemntive for the charcocterization of these materials in the field. This paper investigales the divintegration of these minterials in culting slopes using the microtremar H/V technique. The results show good sorrelatiou with diaintegration clussificatiom Bystems.
