ABSTRACT

In order to investigate the applicability to timber pile foundations of the specifications survey method using non-destructive testing, tests were carefully conducted on an actual existing bridge. As a result, it was found that borehole radar was sufficiently capable of identifying stake length with reasonable accuracy. Conversely, the radar was unable to provide drive -depth data for the pile on the footing intervals of stakes. More capability can be expected from development and improvement of measurement apparatus or exploration methods. And to evaluate the moving of the timber tiles foundations, we conducted shaking tests. From these tests, we cleared the movement of the timber piles foundations in seismic situation.
