ABSTRACT
In this chapter, we first discuss the official reporting of information found during the case file evaluation, then on to the legal considerations that have to be made. There are basically two types of reports that an evaluation team may prepare, depending on the target audience of either investigators or prosecutors. A report for the detectives is usually more investigatively oriented, as it addresses areas of concern to the detectives that will help them establish all the elements of proof. It will also contain a detailed investigative plan for an accurate resolution. The other type of report is usually for a prosecutor, wherein you are asking for a prosecutorial determination. Utilizing the latter depends on whether a prosecutor has been assigned to the team and is fully aware of the intricacies of the investigation and therefore fully prepared to prosecute accordingly.
