ABSTRACT

Over the last decade, the mobile health (mHealth) phenomenon has developed into one of the most signi€cant technological advances in digital health. The mHealth trend is amalgamating health-care professionals, academic researchers, and technology industry disciplines worldwide to achieve innovative solutions in the areas of health-care delivery and biomedical sectors. The impact of mHealth on the nursing domain is not fully clear; there are tremendous opportunities and challenges ahead for nurses aiming to adopt mHealth into their €eld. Around the turn of the century, electronic health (eHealth) emerged and was utilized by health-care providers as the world of information technology expanded. Asmedicalrecordstransitionedfrompaperchartingtoelectroniccharting,thenextlogical step in this progression was mobile charting. Mobile health, also called mHealth, is the term used to encompass retrieving and manipulating eHealth information on mobile devices such as personal digital assistants (PDAs), smartphones, or tablet personal computers (PCs).
