ABSTRACT
Smartphones and mobile applications have the potential to reshape and reform healthcare provision, enabling personalized health monitoring outside traditional care units (Istepanian, 2004; van Halteren et al., 2004). Aging populations are typically seen as a serious challenge to prevailing health-care systems since extended life length (in most developed countries) is taken to imply that individuals will spend a longer part of their lives with complications and chronic diseases*(UN 2009).Concomitantly, the need for nursing, care, and prevention of complications associated with chronic conditions is taken to increase (Steg et al., 2006; OECD report, 2010).
