ABSTRACT
A technological paradigm shift where customers are equipped with powerful mobile information and communication devices, such as tablets or smartphones, to access information easily is reshaping many industries, including health care. Consequently, they are ready to be empowered to actively participate in health-care businesses and decision-making processes. Some health-care services are being transformed from physical-based services where a complete physical presence is necessary to mobile-based services in which healthcare activities can be performed at anytime, anywhere. Mobile-based services greatly help in preventing diseases, promoting health, and offering services that can be accessed according to customers’ comfort times and places (Haux et al., 2002).
