ABSTRACT
In addition to the economic factor, police organizations can be deeply influenced by politics or impact politics. According to Bayley (1995), the nature of a government is indistinguishable from the police, who reflect that government. In general, the maintenance of order and law enforcement activities are often politically driven-a condition for both democratic and nondemocratic countries. The government and the state craft and enact laws that police agencies enforce. For instance, the formation of regulating bodies tasked with the mission to enforce laws contributes to the stability of the
economy, reliability of justice systems, fairness in the application of laws, and compliance to state regulations. States that are unable to govern properly through their institutions and implement transparent “checks and balances” often generate fertile ground for corruption and the abuse of power.
