ABSTRACT

Wireless power transmission has been widely investigated for different applications in recent years. Methods such as RF, magnetic induction and concentrated sunlight for WPT have appeared in different fields, but totally immature for applications (Shinohara 2011). As a heterogenous spacecraft system, modules in the fractionated spacecraft clusters get necessary energy by wireless power transmission to maintain their own need. For different missions and safety consideration, modules need to keep distance at ten to ten thousand meters from each other with the average power consumption on hundreds to thousands watt per module. That’s to say, wireless power transmission technology for space application must be able to transmit hundreds to thousands watt power in the range of 10 m∼10 km. In the following paragraphs, several methods of WPT for fractionated spacecraft system have been discussed in detail.
