ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: This study aims to find potential issues of Long-Term Oxygen Therapy between Taiwan and Japan by comparison of Public Health Care System, and to make a proposition of solution approach for COPD patients bringing better quality of life. The Method is to collect health care systems data for long-term oxygen therapy from appropriate parties by interviews. In conclusion, I recommend; Japan to implement an education program about oxygen therapy service for appropriate parties to increase the number of eligible patients using the home-visit nursing care service for COPD as covered by Long-Term Care Insurance. And to introduce a qualification of “Respiratory Therapist” is suggested. Taiwan to discuss an item “Oxygen concentrator” of treatment for Long-Term Oxygen Therapy, which should be covered by future public health care system “Long-Term Care Insurance” planned in Taiwan. And it is suggested to introduce the system of “Prescription of oxygen inhalation”.
