ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: The aim of the research was to conduct a survey and to compare leadership and management styles of Czech and foreign managers. We compared the differentness of the leadership and management styles of managers from several European countries. A partial goal was to compare the impact of different cultures on behaviour, leadership, management and decision making of managers in a given country. The research was carried out in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria, Italy and Germany. After a research analysis of particular literature sources of national cultures (Vesely, 2014; Lang & Szabo & Catana, 2013; Sternad, 2011; Hermann & Hüneke & Rohrberg, 2012; Müller, 2005), we defined the hypothesis of the expected prospective prevailing leadership and management style in individual countries. We verified these hypotheses by an experiment, which was based on the collection of information on management and leadership style that we obtained through an empirical research about foreign managers in each country. The survey of leadership and decision styles was conducted according to the model of Vroom and Yetton (Vroom & Yetton, 1973) and the managerial grid by Blake and Mouton (Blake & McCanse, 1995).
