ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: A number of methodologies (e.g. ITIL, COBIT, ISO 20000, etc.) have been developed over the last two decades but their use, in particular in small and medium sized enterprises is still very limited. In this paper we discuss existing IT management approaches and their limitations with a particular focus on Czech and Slovak organizations. We base our discussion on available literature, our surveys of Czech organizations and our experiences gained from practical assignments. The MBI (Management of Business Informatics) model attempts to overcome the limitations of the existing methodologies and models. It can assist IT executives with solving IT management problems. Customization of the model can take into account various factors that influence enterprise IT management in specific organizations. We describe the basic concepts and features of the MBI model and its future development.
