ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: Augmented reality compared to virtual reality offers a stronger feeling of immersion for the user. In this paper we present an application, which combines augmented reality with presentation of cultural heritage and education. The application named Slovak Augmented Reality consists of a floor map of Slovakia and the Kinect sensor to display and interact with 3D virtual models of cultural heritage objects using gestures. It is extended with the possibility to watch the video of user holding the virtual object which is captured with Kinect device placed under the screen. The user can navigate (scale and rotate around two axes) the virtual object using predefined gestures.
