ABSTRACT

Judge Clement Goldstone was educated at Manchester Grammar School and Churchill College in Cambridge University. Called to the Bar in 1971, he had a mixed practice as a junior barrister for 20 years. He became a Queen’s Counsel (QC) in 1993, concentrating on criminal work and licensing, that is, betting, gaming, and liquor. He was appointed as a circuit judge in 2002, and has been a mental health review tribunal chairman in restricted cases. Since 2009, he has been authorized to sit in the court of appeal criminal division. At the time of writing, he is a senior circuit judge and Honorary Recorder of Liverpool (since 2011).
