ABSTRACT

This chapter provides an overview of the treatment of colorectal disorders in low-and middle-income countries (LMICs). Common colorectal pathologies include trauma, infections, volvulus, diverticular disease, and neoplasm. Elective colorectal disorders such as rectal prolapse, asymptomatic colonic polyps, or carcinoma-in-situ are less common in LMICs and are not covered in this chapter.
