ABSTRACT

Soft-tissue injuries of the face can be common in resource-poor settings in resource poor settings of low-and middle-income countries (LMICs) where trauma constitutes a significant source of surgically treatable morbidity and mortality. Injuries can range from superficial abrasions to deep lacerations that may or may not involve the craniofacial skeleton. For any traumatic facial injury, a thorough examination of the wound is necessary to completely define the extent of the trauma and to assess for proximity to specialized structures.
