ABSTRACT

With the rapid development of integrated photonics technology, nanoscale computational photonics are having a major impact on next-generation biomedical engineering and sciences. This chapter describes three representative directions:

1. Computational nanophotonics for multiple metallic nanoparticle sensing and detection. The unique optical properties of the integrated microring resonator mode have been utilized to enhance the light signal from potentially biomoleculetagged metallic nanoparticles. Extremely low-concentration biomolecule sensing and detection can be achieved.
