ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: The purpose of this contribution is to study the efficacy of SEEA-W tables to analyse the evolution of water use in agriculture in the period 2004-2012 in Guadalquivir basin, including the impact of meteorological and hydrological droughts. Results show that hybrid tables can be used to estimate basin water productivity values (GVA/water consumed). The evolution of this ratio in the period 2004-2012 shows that some useful knowledge of water productivity evolution and the role of supplied irrigation water (blue) and soil water (green) can be obtained with the added value of a common methodology according SEEA guidelines allowing knowledge sharing. On the other hand, our research also found that it is difficult to determine the aggregate economic impact of meteorological and hydrological drought based upon basin SEEA Accounts.
