Use of seasonal climate predictions in the water sector—preliminary results from the EUPORIAS project

Seasonal climate forecasts give information on the future probability of one or more situations in the next months (low or high rainfall, precipitation, etc.). Accordingly they have the potential to help water managers and users make better-informed decisions on reservoir operations (release of water), environmental flow management, drought response strategies and development of water policies to ensure security of supply and demand management (Australian Bureau of Meteorology, 2014).
