ABSTRACT

The experimental media is pure water, with a square cavity of 250 mm × 250 mm × 250 mm. The experimental model and measure equipment is shown in Figure 1. For the model, The flow rate of cold water is greater than 0.5 m/s. The temperature set at 19°C through the cold water. The heat source is provided by the center of the aluminum box at bottom which sets the temperature at 60°C

2 MEASUREMENTS

2.1 PIV measurement

PIV is the laser hydrodynamic measurement. According to the research, the key issue of accuracy for PIV flow field test results is the image acquisition. Figure 2 shows four consecutive image acquisitions and the velocity distribution. From the figure, we can see that the image acquisition maintain the rate of about 0.5 Hz and taking images of at least 100 is a good choice.
