In this chapter, we consider a variety of ways to mount individual rotationally symmetric lenses and mirrors in the size range of ~10 to ~250 mm (~0.4 to ~10 in.) diameter. Mounting techniques for multiple-lens assemblies are discussed in Chapter 5. Mountings for larger mirrors to be used in image-forming optical systems are discussed in later chapters.
