1 INTRODUCTION
The deep ocean seismic exploration in developed countries like the U.S., Japan and Germany started in the 1960s, and has gone through three stages, namely sonobuoy, common midpoint stacking double boat extended profiling and OBS. Since the 1980s, nearly ten teams have conducted seismic exploration in South China Sea and have yielded fruitful results. In 2010 and 2011, several research institutions cooperated and acquired data of two deep seismic exploration profiles in Bohai Gulf. Research into the deep structure of eastern sea of Taiwan was also conducted more than once. Though the shallow layer data of Taiwan Straits is relatively complete, the deep seismic structure exploration of Taiwan Straits is still a gap to be filled up.
