ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: A two-dimensional numerical model of the tidal current in Funing Wan is established, based on FVCOM ocean numerical model. The model was verified using measured data, including water level, the velocity and the direction of flow. Analog data are in good agreement with the measured data. Then we analyzed the impact of the seawall project by the numerical model, the results show that: the implement of the project changed the coastline that the direction of flow deflects counterclockwise and the new direction is roughly parallel with the coastline; The velocity of flow increases significantly at the 2 turnings of the coastline when the rising tide comes, the increase is up to 1.94 cm/s. And when it is ebb the increase is up to 2.46 cm/s at the southeast turning. The seawall project has little impact on the tidal current in offshore seas away from the project area.
