ABSTRACT
ABSTRACT: The objective of this paper is to analyse water consumption of Zhangye City. During the period 2002 to 2007, the water consumption change and influence factor of Zhangye City can be decomposed into three aspects: technical factor, structural factor (effect of intermediate demand) and systemic factor (effect of final demand) by input-output theory, structural decomposition analysis (SDA) method, and regional water resource input-output model. The results show that the key factor of water resource reduction is structural factor, meanwhile the role of technical factor in reduction of water composition is also more significant. Systemic factor is dominant factor of water consumption growth in Zhangye City, with a significant negative effect.
