ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: The aim of this study is to evaluate anti-microbial activity and stability of the fermentation broth of Streptomyces albulus NK413. The results have indicated that S. albulus NK413 has a broad anti-microbial spectrum. It can inhibit the growth of 18 kinds of target microorganism, among of them the antifungal activity against Alternaria alternata (pathogen of tobacco brown spot disease) is the best, and the diameter of inhibition zone reaches 47 mm ± 2 mm. The antibiotic substance produced by S. albulus NK413 is fairly stable. The antibacterial activity still maintains 97% after heated for 120 min at 100◦C and remains a high activity at pH 1-6. After stored for 60 d at 4◦C or −20◦C, the antibacterial activity keeps 89% of contrast. This study demonstrates S. albulus NK413 can inhibit a variety of food spoilage bacterium and phytopathogenic fungi, and it has great potential development and application value in the field of antiseptic agent.
