ABSTRACT
If we are to understand how human factors/ergonomics (HFE) does, can and should interact with Big Data Analytics (BDA) then we need a more exact understanding of what it is and how it is being used. There are a number of books on the subject, and research and survey papers covering aspects of BDA, but a starting definition is useful;
big data n. data of a very large size, typically to the extent that its manipulation and management present significant logistical challenges; (also) the branch of computing involving such data (www.oed.com).
