ABSTRACT

Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and its associated User and equipment characteristics, is only ever part of a larger system, but has its own lifecycle. This is reflected, for example, in the UK MoD’s technical guidance which is contained mainly within DEFSTAN 00-250. It starts with a consideration of UK MoD’s Architectural Framework i.e. MODAF. This sets a context, in terms of its lifecycle, for job synthesis i.e. the design of HCI, and the jobs, tasks and activities associated with it. The ISO standards form a complementary body of detailed technical information.
