8.1 INTRODUCTION

Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) is a common anxiety disorder that usually begins in adolescence, and it affects about 5.7% people in the general population [1]. GAD often co-occurs with major depressive disorder [2] and causes significant distress or impairment in life [3]. However, GAD is less studied compared to other anxiety disorders [4], despite its high prevalence and clinical importance.
