ABSTRACT

The time for developing entrepreneurship education in college students is short in China. By carrying out the activities such as college graduates’ venture contests, venture forums, and so on, and in conjunction with media’s attention and propaganda to the entrepreneurship of college graduates, especially publishing reports of cases with college undergraduates’ entrepreneurial successes, have well aroused college students’ entrepreneurial enthusiasm. To promote the rapid development of entrepreneurship education of college students in China, the Ministry of Education has taken a series of measures in 2002, the Ministry of Education determined 9 universities as the pilot ones for entrepreneurship education, such as Renmin University of China, Qinghua University, Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Heilongjiang University, etc., which marks the beginning of the study and practice of college entrepreneurship education in China. Being an organic part of quality education, college students’ entrepreneurship education centering on developing their entrepreneurial comprehensive quality, exploiting their potential and molding talents with great potential, competitiveness, and good social adaptability, which is also aiming at creating more employment opportunities via encouraging entrepreneurship. The new education mode promoting the building of an innovation-oriented country, and realizing high degree of unification of individual and social values. [1] With the rapid development of higher education, and the continuous deepening of reform of college students’ employment system, the difficulties of employment in college graduates has been the main factor influencing the stability of the Chinese society, and hindering the economic development. The 17th Nation Congress of the Communist Part of China (CPC) noted, “Employment is the fundamental to the people’s livelihood. And we must insist on implementation of proactive employment policies, strength the guidance of the government, perfect the market employment mechanism, enlarge the employment scale, and improve the employment agencies. We also have to perfect the policies to encourage entrepreneurship and self-employment, and strengthen the education of employment ideas to help more workers become entrepreneurs”. on, these colleges, began holding various forms of activities, and made beneficial attempts in entrepreneurship education. Amongst those activities, the most influential ones are: Qinghua University half-price rented its office buildings to the graduates to found their companies; cooperating with Zhangjiang High-Tech Park in Pudong, Fudan University implemented the action plan on students’ scientific innovation, and set up dedicate venture fund; Wuhan University carried out the “San Chuang” education, integrating innovation, creation and entrepreneurship. Meanwhile, the colleges have made relevant attempts in the establishing of organizations for entrepreneurship education. For example, Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics set up a college for the training of entrepreneurship and management for non-degree education purpose, and Heilongjiang University launched a college for entrepreneurship education, and set up a learning system in relation with entrepreneurship, including elective courses, subsidiary majors, etc., and compiled relevant teaching materials, unfolding the entrepreneurship education in Chinese universities.
