ABSTRACT

The U.S. government administrations in the past as well as the present have always pursued “energy independence” as the ideals and objectives for the national energy policy. In general, the U.S. government’s energy policy objective is to enhance the security of the energy supply which includes two aspects. One aspect is to reduce the dependence on the imported oil and to increase domestic oil and gas production, strategic reserves and the efforts to expand energy self-sufficiency. Second aspect is to reduce the dependence on oil by searching for the alternative energy sources (for example, nuclear, wind, solar, etc.) production to promote diversification of energy consumption structure.
