ABSTRACT: To study the influence of mental fatigue on sustained attention, we studied performance and subjective rating in two tasks: mental-fatigue-inducing task (2-back) and sustained attention [Continuous Performance Task (CPT)]. Fourteen healthy male volunteers participated in this experiment who were required to perform 2-back task for 120 min. Before and after the 2-back task, they finished CPT task as well (10 min). The results showed that the performance was significantly decreased and the levels of mental fatigue were significantly increased. Furthermore, linear regression analysis was used to achieve the quantitative relationship among the 2-back, the subjective rating, and the CPT task.
