ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: It was proved that the optimum ratio of five rhubarbs aglycones showed potent eect on ischemic cerebral apoplexy, but their pharmacokinetics are ambiguous in rats. A simple and sensitive high-performance liquid chromatographic method was developed for the simultaneous determination and comparative pharmacokinetic analysis of aloe-emodin, rhein, emodin, chrysophanol, and physcion in rat plasma after oral administration with or without borneol. The results demonstrated that the assay had remarkable reproducibility with acceptable accuracy and precision and borneol may slow down the absorption of the five rhubarb aglycones and accelerate their elimination in rats.
