ABSTRACT

Yabluonovitch and John put forward the concept of photonic crystals, due to its unique properties photonic crystals are concerned with the majority of scholars. Photonic crystals are periodic materials which band-gap characteristic is applied to many optical devices. Moreover, due to its local states in which mode density is higher and incident pulses travel slowly, then there are stronger nonlinear eects (Dolgova et al. 2002, Liscidinia et al. 2004, Joseph et al. 2014). Nearly 20 years, the researches of transmission characteristics (Wang et al. 2001) and dispersion characteristics (Centini et al. & Tarasishin et al. 1999) are gradually becoming mature. But there are a few researches to study phase matching characteristics of photonic crystals. Therefore, study of optical field coupling in nonlinear photonic crystals is very meaningful. Transfer matrix method is the common method of studying one dimensional photonic crystals’ transmission and nonlinear process (Bethune 1989, Jeong et al. 1999, Li et al. 2007, Saleh et al. 2008). In this paper, we expand and improve the frequency doubling model, and on this account we study the characteristics of frequency doubling in BBO photonic crystals.
