ABSTRACT

The single-chip microcomputer is the system that adopts technology of large scale integrated circuit, it puts the central processor with data processing capability, random access memory, RAM, Read-only memory ROM, a variety of I/O port, interrupt system, and the timer integrated on a silicon wafer (Baccherini & Merlini 2008). Various functions can be achieved with the combination of MCU and programming languages quickly and eciently. A precise timer based on STC89C52 single-chip microcomputer is designed and implemented by this paper. Electronic timer is widely used in many sports events. It brings great convenience to people’s study and work (Gu 2008). With the development of the society and the improvement of sports level, the time accuracy has never been requirements so highly (Auhmani et al. 2002). It can’t be distinguished when players hit the line. Therefore, the research on intelligent electronic timer has a large realistic significance. The main characteristic of intelligent electronic timer is intelligent and precise. The function is very powerful and the operation is very simple, and the cost is low. The accuracy of the stopwatch is increased to 0.3s. The beginning and ending of the time can be measured automatically and accurately.
